My friends asked me to put together a wedding basket for their newlywed neighbors who were on their honeymoon. I didn’t have much time to gather items and assemble this before their return. My only instruction was that they liked candles. I started with a teal basket and found Yankee Candles and soap to match. To raise up the items, I added shredded paper and candy to the bottom of the basket. Then, I added many smaller gift items to fill the basket such as coffee, candy treats and even a few games. I wanted to create a cohesive theme while still allowing the items to be visible. To do this, I found double-sided silver card stock with strips on one side and polka dots on the other. I cut out bands, die cut shapes and punched out the card stock. I created bands around the candles or shapes with punches. I cut the paper to wrap around the mini-coffee cups and punched out daisies using the Daisy punch. I also used a package of wedding embellishments by Recollections and various wedding stickers to decorate the gifts and basket. I used my Big Shot Pro to make the dress out of the same paper. It’s filled with wrapped Hershey Nuggets covered in the same cardstock. I created a holder for the instant coffee and several other tags and shapes using the same card stock. My Mom cut several flowers out of fabric for me and sewed on some pearls. These elements were present throughout the basket so that no matter which gift the couple pulled out, they would know that it was personally prepared for them. I received very positive feedback about the basket and wanted to share it here on my blog. Hopefully, this idea will serve as inspiration for any themed gift basket you make.
