I was asked to create prizes for an elementary school spelling bee. I came up with this fun design using the bees from the Cricut Create a Critter cartridge and the Big Shot Pro Popcorn Box die. In this demo, I provide an overview of the project and materials and demonstrate how easy it is to create popcorn boxes using the Big Shot Pro. At the end of the video, I show you a honey bee gift I created using the smaller bee and the Wood Crate die by Stampin’ Up. Shop Cartridges & Images at Cricut!
Recipe:
Use the Big Shot Pro and the Popcorn Box die to create the large goodie boxes for the Spelling Bee prizes. For this project, I used the Brights Card Stock Pack by DCWV because of the colors and texture. The card stock is sturdy and retains its color when creased. The sandwich is the base tray, adapter plate, die face up, paper, then crease pad. Run only one paper through at a time. Then, fold along the score lines and use rolling adhesive to attach the boxes together. There are two extra squares. You can use one for the bottom of the box and one inside of the box to make the box sturdy. I only used one of each square for this project.
Use the Cricut Design Space application with the Create a Critter cartridge (or digital image) to create the bees. The bees were cut from lightweight card stock and the layers were run through the Xyron Creative Station sticker maker machine. There are three different sized bees: 7.3″ by 5.2″, 6.3″ by 4.5″, and 3.1″ and 2.2.” The cheeks were colored pink with a sponge dauber and Powder Pink ink. The larger bees were attached to the popcorn boxes using Wobble Springs.
