In this Ink It Up! tutorial, you will learn the emboss resist technique. We will emboss a couple of cards to show ways to apply the technique as well as tips and tricks for heat embossing. First, I used the trees from the Waterfront stamp set and Versamark ink. I stamped the group of trees several times over the trees which were previously stamped in Shaded Spruce. I added the white embossing powder over the top of trees and heat embossed them. Then, I used Balmy Blue and a sponge brayer to color the sky. The ink sticks to the Whisper White cardstock but not to the embossed trees. The trees “resist” the ink. Next, I stamped a snow scene using Versamark ink. I stamped snowmen, snowflakes, and Merry Christmas from the Snowman Season stamp set and trees and snow from the Waterfront stamp set. I stamped the scene onto Whisper White cardstock using Versamark ink. Then, I used clear embossing powder to cover the scene then heat embossed card. Then, I used Balmy Blue and a sponge brayer to color the sky. The scene becomes clear as more inks is blended into the background, revealing the snow scene. I added snowflakes and other embellishments to the background of the card and mounted the piece onto Rea Red cardstock. The layer was placed onto a Night of Navy card. A list of materials needed to complete the emboss resist technique are listed below.
