Recipe:
If you are using standard or glitter card stock, be sure to layer it to make the suitcase sturdy. This step isn’t necessary if using poster board or very thick cardstock. Cut the card stock and layer into 12” by 6” pieces. Spray one side with spray adhesive. Hold the spray bottle about 12” away from the paper. It is good to spray at least a couple of times. Wait about 30 seconds until the glue is tacky. Then, adhere the paper and background together. Rub over the papers to get a good seal. See Part 1 of the video series for a demonstration. To create the die cutting sandwich, layer the 4 pieces like this. Bottom layer is the crease pad, die – blade side up, card stock – patter side down, cutting plate. Because the suitcase die is XL, use the extended size crease pad and cutting plate. Fold the card stock along the score lines. Assemble the main part of the suitcase with brads. Assemble the remaining part of the suitcase with tacky tape and magnets. See Parts 2 & Parts 3 of the video series for a demonstration. The tags and embellishments were created with various dies and punches. The pennants die is great for cutting one tag out of the remaining card stock after the suitcase is cut out. The Duet Banner and Pretty Label punches are great for cutting out sentiments. If your patterned cardstock happens to go in a vertical pattern instead of a horizontal one, assemble the suitcase the same way, just adding the handle to the shorter side.
So stinkin’ cute! I would love to receive one… or make a bunch. =-)
